Walking Trails

All of Portugal is rich with walking routes (Caminhadas) and trails (Trilhos) for you to explore.  At Carvoeiro.villas we are obviously most interested in the coastline and countryside of the Algarve for you.  Indeed, this page will give you some ideas, but also we have posts of our adventures, for you to follow.

The Boardwalks

Importantly Portugal has invested in protecting coastline and countryside in areas which have heavy footfall.  Moreover you will see many wooden boardwalks as walking trails for you to enjoy.  The 3 main boardwalks in the locality of Carvoeiro are:

Firstly, Carvoeiro:- Algar Seco to the chapel.  It follows the cliffs, and gives you access to the rock formation, as well 2 seating areas to walk the sunset.  Furthermore, it is lit up at night if you fancy a late evening stroll.

Secondly, Praia Grande – Salgados – Gale:-  Follows the nature reserve lagoon and has special birdwatching platforms (For more serious Twitchers)

Thirdly, Alvor:- This is probably the longest, with multiple routes, located just south of the main village and the marina area.  The walkway   takes you on circular to the east of Alvor, around the nature reserve, with exits to the beach.

Countryside Walking Trails

Furthermore, why not go inland and discover the Portuguese countryside, like the trail of the historic battle at Sant Ana, or the archaeological walk of Vale Fuzeiros Menires.  Furthermore for the more adventurous there the Monchique walks of Trail of the Windmills and Trail of the Waterfalls.
